Description

THE BARN FIND BIBLE, the maker marks, the stamps, the dating rules and the real sold prices, all in one place: https://barnfindbible.com/ This one is not about your barn. It is about the shelf forty minutes from your house. Forty years picking barns and estate auctions across the Midwest, and here is the thing nobody says out loud. Every barn I clean out ends up somewhere. The family keeps the photographs and the rifle, and the rest of it goes in a truck, and a good share of that truck gets donated. Which means the tools a man used for fifty years are sitting on a metal shelf right now with a four dollar sticker on them. In this video I go through ten old tools and pieces of iron that turn up at Goodwill and thrift stores, what each one is actually worth, and how to check it in about ten seconds standing right there in the aisle with people trying to get past you. Here is why this works, and it is not luck. A thrift store prices by category and by function, because it has to. Donations come in by the truckload, they get priced by whoever is on the floor that day, and the whole job is to move volume for the mission. A hand plane gets priced as a hand plane. Nobody is doing research on a four dollar item, and floor space is the constraint. The store does not advertise what came in because the store does not know what came in. That silence is not a trick, it is arithmetic. I will also give you the one test that works on a maker you have never heard of, so you are not standing there trying to remember a list. And I will give you three things to leave on the shelf, because the fastest way to lose money in a thrift store is to buy something that only looks old. Go on a weekday morning. Ask the person working the floor when the housewares shelf gets restocked. They will tell you, because nobody ever asks them anything. Drop a comment telling me what you found and where you're watching from. I read and answer every single one.
