Description
Morris O’Shea Salazar grew up in a tiny Irish village where almost nobody believed the stories he told about his family in Mexico. Years later, those same stories would lead straight back to Iván Archivaldo and Alfredo Guzmán Salazar, Los Chapitos, and to one of the most unusual international figures ever linked to the Sinaloa Cartel.
For this investigation, I spoke directly with a source from Killorglin who personally knew Morris and lived around him during those years. What they revealed goes far beyond anything previously published: exclusive details about his childhood, his personality, the stories he told before anyone knew who the Chapitos were, his tastes, the women, more anecdotes, the people around him, his movements between Ireland, Spain and Mexico, and how a kid from County Kerry allegedly ended up becoming an extremely valuable figure inside his cousins’ organization.
There is also an extraordinary aviation story at the center of it all, one involving cartel pilots, small aircraft, enormous amounts of money and a position very close to Iván and Alfredo themselves. And for the first time, the source explains what they believe really happened behind Morris’ transformation from a teenager in rural Ireland into the man authorities would later connect to major international trafficking operations.
Much of what you’re about to hear has never been reported before. These are details coming directly from someone who knew Morris personally and agreed to speak on the condition of anonymity.
This is the story of El Morris, also known as "The Mexican", from Killorglin to Sinaloa.
