Jose Benavidez Vs. Danny Garcia | HIGHLIGHTS #boxing #sports #combat

🥊 FIGHT DESCRIPTION: Two-division world champion Danny “Swift” Garcia made a powerful statement in his super welterweight debut, grinding out a majority decision victory over Jose Benavidez Jr. in the SHOWTIME main event at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. The Premier Boxing Champions showdown marked another successful night for Garcia at a venue where he has repeatedly delivered memorable performances. Philadelphia’s Garcia (37-3, 21 KOs) returned to familiar territory, adding another triumph to his impressive Barclays Center résumé. Since headlining the arena’s first boxing event in 2012, Garcia had built a strong record in Brooklyn, and this latest victory pushed his total at the venue to seven wins. After more than a year away from competition, Garcia stepped up to the 154-pound division carrying battles that extended far beyond the ring. He openly revealed the anxiety and depression he had endured during his layoff, describing the mental struggle it took to find his way back to boxing. But on fight night, Garcia turned that adversity into motivation, proving that his comeback was about more than simply collecting another win. Known for his slick counterpunching, Garcia switched gears and brought the fight to Benavidez, relentlessly attacking the body and unloading a career-high **153 body punches**. His sharp combinations, quick hands, and clever footwork repeatedly put Benavidez on the back foot, forcing the challenger to chase him throughout the contest. Benavidez (27-2-1, 18 KOs) had his moment in the ninth round, landing a heavy right hand that snapped Garcia’s head backward. Yet Garcia remained composed, maintained his offensive rhythm, and continued piling up punches. Benavidez refused to accept the verdict without question, believing his performance deserved a different outcome. “I thought I won, but it is what it is,” he said afterward, adding that a defeat could make him stronger. The numbers backed up Garcia’s work rate. He landed **233 punches compared with Benavidez’s 117**, connecting at a higher rate of 31% to 20%. The judges delivered scores of 117–111 and 116–112 for Garcia, while the third scored it 114–114, handing “Swift” the majority decision. Following the victory, Garcia gave credit to his father and longtime trainer, Angel Garcia, for standing beside him through the difficult period away from boxing and helping him make his return. His move to super welterweight ended with a hard-earned win—and a reminder that even after confronting struggles outside the ring, Danny Garcia still had the experience, speed, and fighting instincts to compete at a high level.
