The Ending of G.I. Joe (1986)-Nobody Talks About

The Ending of G.I. Joe (1986)... Nobody Talks About — Why Did G.I. Joe Vanish? On November 20th, 1986, G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero aired its last episode and quietly disappeared from television. No finale. No farewell. No warning. This is the complete documentary story of how the original G.I. Joe cartoon began, why it became a syndication powerhouse, and why it ended without anyone noticing. From Stanley Weston's original action figure pitch to Hasbro in 1963, to the Marvel Comics partnership that helped revive the brand, to the 30-second animated comic book commercials that helped create a television phenomenon — this is the business and creative history behind one of the most influential retro cartoons of the 1980s. IN THIS VIDEO, YOU'LL DISCOVER: • How G.I. Joe started as advertising for a comic book, not simply as a toy commercial. • Who really built the Sunbow series, from Ron Friedman to Marvel Productions and Toei Animation. • How The M.A.S.S. Device launched the saga in 1983 — and why it opened without a traditional origin story. • How the series conquered syndication in 1985 with a 55-episode order designed to reach 65 episodes. • Why Arise, Serpentor, Arise changed Cobra forever — and what Sgt. Slaughter brought to Season Two. • Why G.I. Joe: The Movie was pulled from theaters and released directly to video. • How the movie's failure changed the future of the franchise and helped bring the Sunbow era to an end. • The never-produced third season, The Coil, and how the final episode secretly set up what could have come next. • What really happens in the final episode, Into Your Tent I Will Silently Creep. This is essential viewing for fans of G.I. Joe, Cobra Commander, action figures, vintage toy collecting, Marvel Comics, 80s animation, Sunbow, and classic Saturday morning cartoons.
