Description

My mama fed six of us on what most folks now spend on a fast food combo, and she never once sent anybody away from the table hungry. In this one I'm sharing 20 soul food dishes we grew up on down South, every last one under $2 a serving. Neck bones and rice, a pot of pinto beans and cornbread, salmon croquettes, collard greens and pot likker, chicken and dumplings that stretched one bird to feed eight, all the way down to the cheapest supper of them all. Cheap cuts, dried beans, and pantry staples, cooked the old way.
