Description

📖 Get The Old Mexican Way, every old way written down: https://oldmexicanway.com You already have it: a two-dollar box with twenty mules on the front. I was seven, up on a wooden crate beside my mother at the sink in Guadalajara, when she spooned it into a jar of warm water and sugar for the ants in the pan dulce tin. By morning the ants were gone. The trick is not the borax. It is the spoon. A spoon of it is medicine, and a cup of it is poison, for the bugs and for your garden both. Here are eleven jobs my mother gave that box, the seven that really work, and the four where I stop the famous video and tell you the truth. THE ELEVEN 1️⃣ The ants: 1 level tsp borax + ½ cup sugar + 1 cup warm water on cotton balls on a jar lid. Leave the scouts alone; they carry it home. (Grease-loving ants: a teaspoon in peanut butter.) 2️⃣ The slugs: NOT a borax ring. The rain washes it into your bed, and boron builds up. My mother's board trap at dawn, the beer trap, and the flashlight walk. 3️⃣ The fleas in the carpet: thin borax, brushed in, keep pets out a day, vacuum. After the vet, never on the animal. 4️⃣ The roaches: thin as flour behind the stove and refrigerator. A roach walks around a pile. 5️⃣ Feeding the soil: boron in a whisper, only if a soil test says it is low. One level tablespoon in a gallon, spread evenly, once in spring. 6️⃣ The wood: borax brushed on bare, unpainted wood stops termites and carpenter ants. Never near food or your beds. 7️⃣ The white powder on squash leaves: NOT borax. The milk spray (1 part milk to 2 parts water) or bicarbonato with a drop of soap, plus air and morning watering. 8️⃣ The weeds in the cracks: cracks only, never near a bed. Or my mother's way, hot nejayote or boiling water. 9️⃣ The mice in the shed: borax does not do it. The crate, the pea of masa, and the trap against the wall. 🔟 The black mold behind the lavadero: borax and hot water, scrubbed in, not rinsed. Then fix the drip that feeds it. 1️⃣1️⃣ The worm in the apple: NOT a borax band. My tía's way in Zacatlán: a cardboard band on the trunk in June, peeled and burned every week, and the fallen apples picked up. The honest word: borax is a house tool the internet keeps carrying into the garden. Two spoons is the whole trick; the day you reach for the cup, you have stopped doing the old way. Keep the box high, away from children and pets. Who profits: the $40 ant spray, the slug pellets, and the $15 apple traps with a refill every season. Nobody makes a dollar from a woman with a two-dollar box, a wet board and a strip of cardboard. Tonight, do one: lay a wet board in the garden and flip it at sunrise. Or mix the ant jar, one level teaspoon. Which pest is winning the war at your house this year? Tell me, and your county. I read every one.
