Description

Vidyut Jammwal was born to play Dhalsim. But in the new Street Fighter movie (in cinemas October 16, 2026), Dhalsim's iconic skull necklace is gone. Here's the story behind it. 💀 Street Fighter II (Capcom, 1991) gave Dhalsim a necklace of small skulls. In Street Fighter lore, they belonged to children from his village who died in a plague. 💀 He wore them through Street Fighter Alpha 2, IV and V. Then Street Fighter 6 (2023) swapped them for a gold necklace. 📿 In the movie's first look, Vidyut wears a rudraksha mala, the sacred beads of Lord Shiva. In the fight scenes he wears a twisted gold necklace, a lot like his Street Fighter 6 one. 🔥 The twist: off camera, he does wear skulls. Andrew Schulz (Dan Hibiki in the movie) said on the Flagrant podcast that he thought Vidyut was already in his Dhalsim costume because of his skull necklace. Cody Rhodes (Guile) said Vidyut gave it to him on his last day of filming, with a handwritten scroll and two shawls, because Cody's daughter was born during filming. Rudraksha or skulls: which Dhalsim do you prefer? 👇 Footage: Street Fighter featurette and trailer (Paramount Pictures / Legendary); Street Fighter II, Alpha 2, IV, V and 6 (Capcom); Flagrant podcast clip; India Today interview. Used for commentary and news. Music: Dhalsim's Theme, Super Street Fighter II (Capcom). #streetfighter #dhalsim #vidyutjammwal #streetfightermovie #capcom
