Description
If you've been trying to grow your edges back with one more bottle, this one is for you. Janet shows Black women a free way to work on thinning edges with nothing but their fingertips, and why the way most of us were taught to massage our edges, rubbing in little circles, does so little.

She learned the press from a physical therapist named Lorraine, and a Japanese hair-care lab had already measured why it works. You'll hear the exact order for a scalp massage for edges, back of the head first and the hairline last, how much pressure, how long, and how long regrowth really takes when hair grows about half an inch a month. Then the everyday habits that keep edges from growing back for Black women: tight braids at the front, wig glue and wig cap bands, bonnet elastic, laying edges with a brush, and the month-three mistake that pulls out brand new growth.
Janet also clears up shaving your edges, hanging upside down for an inch a week, and high-dose biotin, and walks through traction alopecia and the eyebrow sign of frontal fibrosing alopecia that means it's time to see a dermatologist who knows our hair.
Sources:
Soga, Morita, Arai (Kao Corporation), Journal of Society of Cosmetic Chemists of Japan, 2014. Pressing scalp massage raised scalp blood flow about 120 percent for more than 20 minutes; friction massage did not raise scalp blood flow.
Koyama et al., Eplasty, 2016. Four minutes of daily scalp massage for 24 weeks increased hair thickness in nine men.
American Academy of Dermatology. Frontal fibrosing alopecia: most women diagnosed lose some or all of their eyebrows; scarred follicles cannot regrow; early treatment can stop further loss.
FDA safety communication, 2017. High-dose biotin can interfere with lab tests, including troponin tests used to diagnose heart attack.
StatPearls, Traction Alopecia. Common in women of African descent; reversible early, permanent once scarring sets in.
