Description
🗺️ Plan your Michigan trip with our 4 travel guides (E-Book): road trips, old diners, lighthouses & places to stay 👉 https://michigan-guide-box.netlify.app/?src=yt-description
Two coney islands in downtown Detroit share a wall, and for about a hundred years they've argued over which one came first. But the coney island that has served from the same spot the longest isn't in Detroit at all. It's been open in Kalamazoo since 1915.
From a 1948 drive-in in Mount Pleasant to a train station legend in Jackson, the beef heart topping of Flint and the counter Anthony Bourdain loved in Southwest Detroit, we take a road trip across the state and end on Lafayette Boulevard, where two brothers started Michigan's most famous food rivalry.
Along the way: One Stop Coney Shop, The Pixie, Coney Island Kalamazoo, Virginia Coney Island, Starlite, Mama Vicki's, Leo's, Duly's Place, Lafayette and American.
Hours change and some places have more than one location, so check before you go.
American or Lafayette: which side of the wall are you on? Tell us in the comments.
