n 2016, devastating earthquakes struck central Italy, destroying homes, historic buildings, and churches. Among the places badly damaged was the Church of Santa Maria Assunta in Arquata del Tronto. More than a year later, in February 2018, a locked tabernacle recovered from the ruins was finally opened. Inside were 40 consecrated Eucharistic Hosts.
