The NEXT Ten Avengers: The Avengers of the 80s

The Avengers entered the 1980s with one of the strangest and most important eras in the team's history. In this follow-up to my look at the first Avengers, we're continuing through the team's membership one hero at a time — from Tigra, She-Hulk and Monica Rambeau's Captain Marvel to Starfox, Mockingbird, Namor, Doctor Druid and Moon Knight. Along the way, we'll see the formation of the West Coast Avengers, figure out who actually counts as an official Avenger, deal with some very questionable honorary members and recruits, and discover why Marvel somehow declared Moon Knight the 24th Avenger... even though the math really doesn't seem to work. We'll also look at some of the weird asterisks from this era, including Marrina, Firebird, James Rhodes, the Thing, Ravonna's “Nebula” and Lady Yellowjacket — and try to make sense of who was actually an Avenger and who wasn't. From She-Hulk and Moon Knight to the absolutely glorious disaster that was Doctor Druid, this was the era when the Avengers roster got bigger, stranger and a whole lot more complicated. Who was your favourite Avenger of the 1980s? And seriously... can anybody explain how Moon Knight was only number 24? #Avengers #MarvelComics #MoonKnight #shehulk #captainmarvel
