Description

He forgot to lock a door. The Roman Empire died because of it. It's May 29th, 1453. Constantinople has held for a thousand years. Tonight, a guard steps away from a small gate for five minutes. An Ottoman patrol finds it open. But what if someone locked it? In this video, we explore the alternate timeline where a paranoid Byzantine officer named Loukas Notaras can't sleep, finds the Kerkoporta swinging open at 2 AM, and locks it — where the siege stalls, the Venetian fleet arrives, Constantine XI survives, and the Byzantine Empire claws its way into the modern world: lost Greek fire recipes, burning Ottoman navies, a 200-year cold war with the Pope, and a tiny, solvent, deeply annoying empire still charging tolls on the Bosphorus in 2025. No miracle. No genius general. Just one sleepless guy who happened to check a door. You've walked past empires that fell over less. 🎬 Subscribe for more alternate history: www.youtube.com/@UCVJGUw6-m6Q1I773ml-oiUA Thank you for watching!
