Description

For seventy-seven years, General Motors was the largest carmaker in the world. It built the trucks that helped win a war and the tailfins that defined an era. At its peak, it sold more than half of every new car in America. Then, on a Monday in June 2009, General Motors filed for bankruptcy, the largest industrial failure in American history. The man running it had given the company thirty-two years, and near the end he worked for a dollar. But if General Motors was too big to fail, why couldn't the man who knew it best stop the fall?
