Description

Modern warfare is no longer evolving in a straight line. It is mutating. In Ukraine, aging Soviet-built An-28 transport aircraft are being turned into drone hunters, chasing Russian Shahed drones with mounted Miniguns and launching interceptor drones from under their wings. These aircraft were never designed for this role, but they now represent a new phase of aerial warfare: planes deploying drones to hunt other drones. At the same time, rare Cold War footage has resurfaced showing what appears to be a Soviet Su-7 fighter performing a tactical nuclear bombing test. The footage raises new questions about old nuclear doctrines, modern Russian signaling, and whether forgotten Cold War weapons concepts are being revived in a far more unstable world. Across the Middle East, Hezbollah FPV drones are forcing Israeli troops to improvise with nets, vehicle coverings, and AI-driven interceptors. Some drones are now difficult to jam, hard to see, and capable of striking vehicles, tanks, and troops before conventional defenses can react. And above it all, a new race may be forming in the stratosphere. American high-altitude airships are proving they can stay aloft for days, watch vast areas from near-space, and potentially serve as persistent surveillance platforms. China is already experimenting with its own airship and airborne energy systems. From drone-hunting aircraft to nuclear test footage, battlefield nets, and spy airships, this is what the future of war is starting to look like: cheaper, stranger, harder to stop, and impossible to ignore. --- Dark Footage showcases the most unbelievable photos and videos from history while telling the stories behind the camera. Featuring military, space, aircraft and real-life historic events caught on tape.
