Description
Numbat: From Fragile Newborn to Forest Survivor | Wildlife Documentary
Deep in the dry eucalyptus woodlands of southwestern Australia, this wildlife documentary follows the remarkable life of a mother Numbat during the most demanding season of her life.
After finding a safe hollow tree, the mother Numbat gives birth to three tiny young. Blind, nearly hairless, and completely dependent on her, they cling beneath her body as she searches for termites and avoids predators. When a fox takes one of the young, the mother must continue protecting the two survivors.
Day after day, the Numbat teaches them how to follow termite trails, feed from rotten logs, recognize danger, and find shelter before nightfall. As they grow stronger, the young leave the safety of the den and begin exploring the forest beside their mother.
The Numbat family faces eagles, wildcats, owls, and other dangers hidden throughout the woodland. Eventually, the two young begin searching for food and shelter without help.
By the end of their journey, each young Numbat has grown from a fragile newborn into an independent survivor, ready to face life alone in the Australian wilderness.
