Have EA Made National Team Management Better in Career Mode?

One of the things that I'm the most vocal and passionate about in Career Mode is international football. For years, the amount of teams has been reduced from 60 down to 40, and even at the start of last year it went down to 28, but with the World Cup happening last summer, we were given enough teams to actually fill it out, as well as a few extras for qualification groups. But has EA built on what they put into FC26, or are they starting again from where we started off 12 months ago? Is it worth playing international football, or is it still just a shallow relic of something that doesn't really fit in with the rest of the game?
