Description

Did this mechanic just completely ruin an engine block?! 🤬⚙️ Inside heavy-duty engine blocks, the pistons slide up and down inside replaceable metal tubes called cylinder liners or sleeves. When an engine is rebuilt, these worn-out metal sleeves need to be removed. Professional machine shops use hydraulic presses or specialized puller tools to gently slide them out without damaging the incredibly expensive engine block. But this mechanic chose absolute violence! Instead of using the right tool, they take a sharp chisel and aggressively hammer it straight down into the fragile cylinder wall, cracking the thin metal sleeve completely in half from top to bottom! Once the tension is broken, the shattered metal sleeve just falls out of the bottom of the block! Machinists are furious because one tiny slip of that chisel will leave deep gouges in the engine block, sending the entire motor straight to the scrap yard!
