Description

On July 17, 1981, hundreds of people gathered inside the Hyatt Regency hotel in Kansas City for an evening of music and dancing. Above the crowded atrium were suspended walkways that appeared to float over the lobby below. But hidden within their construction was a critical structural problem. That night, two of the walkways suddenly collapsed onto the crowd beneath them, resulting in one of the deadliest structural disasters in US history.
