The Somalis Were Never Who We Thought — DNA Revealed Their Hidden Ancestry

For centuries, the origins of the Somali people have been discussed through language, migration, history, and ancient trade routes. But DNA research is exposiing a much more complicated story. Genome-wide studies of Somali populations show a strong East African genetic foundation alongside substantial West Eurasian ancestry, reflecting ancient population movements and admixture in the Horn of Africa. In this video, we explore what scientists have discovered about Somali DNA, Cushitic ancestry, ancient migration, and the genetic connections linking populations across the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea. One major study found evidence that Cushitic ancestry itself reflects a mixture involving ancestry related to Arabia and African populations, challenging the idea that modern populations can always be traced to one isolated ancestral source. #SomaliDNA #SomaliAncestry #SomaliGenetics #somalia #Cushitic #CushiticDNA #hornofafrica #AfricanDNA #EastAfricanDNA #ancientdna #genetics #dna #ancestry #humanhistory #genetichistory
