An avalanche was moving faster than he could run. He sat down. This is the Zen story of a monk who crossed a mountain pass in winter and chose stillness in the one moment when every instinct in the human body says run. What happened next cannot be explained by the physics of snow and slope and gravity. But it can be explained by thirty years of practice. This story is about resistance. Not the noble kind. The kind you carry without knowing you're carrying it, against the thing that's coming, against the thing that has already arrived, against the memory of the thing that came before. The avalanche was never the danger. Put it down. #Buddhism #Zen #BuddhistStory #ZenStory #Mindfulness #Meditation #AncientWisdom #BuddhistTeaching #Stillness #Resistance
