Description
My books are on sale now 📖 The Prepper's Field Manual, and all three as the collection.
Grab them here: https://dalebrooks.com
Since January 1, 2026, Minnesota stores can't sell a new fluorescent tube, and the plain incandescent bulb has been off US shelves since 2023. The FCC says many older phones lost the ability to call 911 when carriers shut down 3G in 2022. AAA found 28% of 2017 model-year vehicles came with no spare tire at all. Out where Dale lives, the ambulance is 40 minutes away on a good day, so the old thing in the drawer had better still work.

In this video, we talk about 20 old-school prepping items getting harder to find in the U.S. and what Dale swapped to at his own house, including the old flip phone that can't call 911, the copper landline, the portable generator with no CO shutoff, the round-handle propane tank, the new strength of bleach and what the EPA table says, zinc canning caps and wax seals, the vented gas can, strike-anywhere matches, the child-proof lighter in cold hands, the missing spare tire, AM radio in new cars, ethanol-free gas in Minnesota, the battery TV, the phone book, military MREs, fluorescent shop tubes, the plain light bulb, CFLs, the mercury thermometer, and the one old thing he'll never swap.
