Why Anyone Who Goes to Mars Will NEVER Come Back to Earth

Imagine that the first human crew on Mars has completed its mission. The habitat module has survived. The astronauts are alive. And now they want to come home. There is only one problem. We have sent spacecraft to Mars many times. We have learned how to cross millions of kilometers of space, enter another planet’s atmosphere, and land safely on its surface. But there is one thing we have never done before: we have never launched a rocket from Mars. No spacecraft has ever taken off from its surface and reached Martian orbit. And reaching orbit is only the first step.
