Description

Every Country in Africa—Southern Africa—Episode 4 In our final episode of "Every Country in Africa", we focused on Southern Africa, covering its history from colonialism to the arrival of European settlers and the complexities of overlapping ethnicities. We examined how Cecil Rhodes deceived Southern African chiefs to seize their lands, then renamed the region Rhodesia in his honour. We explored the various ethnic groups in South Africa and traced their origins back to what is now the country. We also discussed Malawi, Namibia, and Mozambique, which was one of Africa's earliest countries colonised by Europeans. We also looked at Madagascar, which shares more similarities with Asia than with Africa.
