Description

Everyone loves to talk about Nine Sols' final boss, Eigong. How she pushes the mechanics you have learned and the muscle memory you have developed to their absolute limits. How she even compares to Sekiro's Isshin the Sword Saint. And, after beating her? She's an insane difficulty spike, having taken me 61 attempts, but she has also become my favorite boss of all time. I talk in this video about the two main types of bosses: spectacle bosses like Calamity Ganon, and high-difficulty bosses like Isshin the Sword Saint. Some bosses just try to look cool but, just like Isshin, Nine Sols takes the approach of making its final boss insanely hard. Beyond the trial and error of learning all of her different moves and how to respond, this fight put to the test many of my fundamental gameplay assumptions. Which Talisman should I use? When should I parry? Should I hit the boss at all? And, after the hours it took to beat the boss, I can firmly say that it was worth every second.
