Designed by Mike Gretz in 1972, this vintage RC plane taught thousands of pilots the fundamentals of balsa wood kits and flight mechanics. From the original design to the Kadet Senior and LT-40, it offered low wing loading and dihedral stability that modern electronics just try to imitate. Building one required real craftsmanship with aliphatic resin and iron-on covering over an acoustical ceiling tile. If this brought it all back to those evenings smelling like castor oil and methanol, subscribe for more histories of the hobbies that built us. #rcplanes #balsawood #SIGKadet #vintagerc #documentary #nostalgia #vintageamerica 0:00 It Built You While You Built It 1:05 The Trainer That Wasn't 2:26 What Gretz Built 4:26 Forty Hours Before You Could Fly 8:40 The Flight Line 12:09 What The Gyroscope Replaced 14:16 Still In The Attic
