Description
Is sugar really the biggest threat to your health?
In this clip, Dr. Mark Hyman discusses the potential impact of excess sugar on metabolic health, inflammation, and cardiovascular risk. He recommends limiting refined carbohydrates, sugary drinks, and foods that rapidly raise blood glucose, while favoring berries such as blueberries and blackberries.
But not all sugars or carbohydrates affect the body in the same way. Whole fruits contain fiber and beneficial nutrients, and current evidence does not support the claim that sugar directly feeds cancer in a way that makes eliminating it a cancer treatment.
The bigger takeaway: Reducing added sugar and refined carbohydrates can support metabolic health, but a balanced diet does not require eliminating all fruit or carbohydrates.
