Daughter of Darkness (1993) Movie Explanation | Full Story & Ending Explained Daughter of Darkness (1993) is a Hong Kong horror-crime thriller directed by Kai-Ming Lai. The story follows Mak Wei-Fong, a young seamstress who arrives at a police station and reports that her entire family has been murdered. Detective Leoi Gei investigates the case and discovers that Mak's parents were shot with bullets normally carried by police officers. Suspicion immediately falls on Gin, Mak's boyfriend, who is a young police officer. Gin confesses to the murders, but his unusually quick confession makes the detective suspect that he may be protecting someone else. Mak eventually confesses that she was responsible for the killings. During the interrogation, she reveals the horrifying abuse she suffered inside her own family and explains why her relationship with Gin became so important to her. The investigation uncovers a history of violence and betrayal within Mak's family. Her father had sexually abused her, while the rest of the family failed to protect her. When Gin discovers what has happened, he confronts Mak's father and a violent struggle follows. Mak manages to take Gin's gun and shoots her father. She then kills the other members of her family as they return home. The case goes to court, and Mak is sentenced to death. While in prison, she gives birth to a baby girl. Gin and the child eventually come to say goodbye before Mak is executed.
