Description
🐾 Want a longer, healthier life for your pet — and to support the channel while you're at it? My complete owner's manual is here: https://stevecooperpets.com/
Your dog isn't broken, and you didn't pick the wrong breed.
The real reason your dog chews, howls, herds or ignores you on walks is stranger than you think.
Ray was sure his border collie Jess was a mistake. She circled the neighborhood kids, nipped at their heels and paced the fence until the grass wore bare. "Wrong breed," he said. But one thing she did every evening at six told a completely different story.
In this video, Steve Cooper treats choosing the wrong dog breed like a case with four suspects: a bad dog, a bad owner, a lying breed list, and choosing with your eyes. You'll learn about the predatory sequence and why herding dogs nip, why beagles and scent hounds stop listening outside, and why terriers dig, huskies wander and retrievers carry your socks.
A large genetics study of 18,385 dogs found that breed predicts only about nine percent of an individual dog's behavior. We also look at how the 101 Dalmatians craze sent yearly Dalmatian registrations from 8,170 to 42,816, and what happened to shelters afterwards.
Plus: simple ways to redirect herding instincts, a ten-minute exercise to find your dog's real "job," and when a sudden change in behavior means a trip to the vet.
