Daily Bible Verse + Prayer for Today | Zechariah 4:10 | Morning Devotional

Discouraged by small beginnings or slow progress? Begin your day with Zechariah 4:10 and a morning prayer for patience, gratitude, and the courage to take your next faithful step. “For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel…” - Zechariah 4:10 (KJV, excerpt) As God’s people rebuilt the temple after exile, the work before them seemed small compared to what had stood before. Yet God encouraged them to keep building. He had promised that Zerubbabel, who laid the foundation, would also finish the work. In today’s morning devotional, we reflect on the question, “Who hath despised the day of small things?” It invites us to reconsider the beginnings we dismiss and the progress we overlook. Perhaps you are building a business, developing a habit, serving in a ministry, or slowly rebuilding after a difficult season. When you compare your progress with someone else’s, it can be easy to forget the value of today’s small act of obedience. This devotional encourages us to: • Value small beginnings and quiet progress. • Measure faithfulness by obedience rather than outward size. • Thank God for each step forward. • Seek His guidance and trust Him with the outcome. The plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand reminds us of work being built with care. We can ask God to guide our efforts, correct our direction, and help us build faithfully where He has called us.
