Description

Donate: https://stub.africa/@accolonn Could government critics in South Africa face punishment for what they say about the country? I examine calls for domestic policy targeting alleged misinformation, the implications for free speech, and why letting the ANC government decide what counts as truth should concern every South African. I revisit Donald Trump’s early statements about South Africa, the February 2025 executive order, and media coverage of “white genocide” claims. I explain why I believe the debate shifted away from questions about property rights, land expropriation and the treatment of Afrikaners—and why that distinction matters. I also discuss the Expropriation Act, concerns about farm occupations, and the growing pressure on the South African economy. From fuel and diesel prices to a weakening rand, job losses and food inflation, I explore how rising costs could affect farmers, businesses and ordinary households in the months ahead. Finally, I turn to 1 Timothy 4 and 6 for a Christian perspective on political uncertainty, godliness, greed and contentment. I share my criticism of BEE and socialism, and why I believe our hope must remain rooted in Jesus Christ. Should the government have the power to punish citizens for allegedly misrepresenting South Africa? Share your thoughts in the comments.
