Donate: https://stub.africa/@accolonn Is South Africa's Parliament misrepresenting the Constitution and putting freedom of expression at risk? In this video, we examine the growing controversy between Lex Libertas, Dr. Aaron Roots and Parliament, and the constitutional questions raised by a parliamentary committee's response to their concerns. The dispute centres on freedom of speech, the South African Constitution, Black Economic Empowerment (BEE), the Expropriation Act and the debate surrounding farm attacks and the treatment of minority groups in South Africa. After Dr. Ernst Roots of Lex Libertas sent an open letter calling for meaningful engagement with Parliament, the parliamentary committee responded by inviting Lex Libertas to present its case. However, the committee's statements have raised serious questions about how the Constitution is being interpreted and how political criticism is being characterised.
