Description
🔧 Everything I learned fixing HVAC for 25 years, in one plain-English book.
📘 THE HVAC SURVIVAL GUIDE - get it here: https://raydutton.com
There's a little plastic box sitting on the floor next to a lot of furnaces, with a hose running out of it, and most people have never once looked at it. On the coldest night of the year, that box is often the reason the heat just quit. A 50 dollar part can shut down a furnace worth thousands.
I ran these calls for twenty-five years. In this video I show you what that box is (a condensate pump), why it makes a perfectly healthy furnace look dead, the four simple reasons it fails, and the free ten-minute test you can do yourself before you ever pick up the phone. I also give you the honest other side: when the pump really is worn out, how you swap it in about twenty minutes, and what a fair price is if you'd rather have a tech do it.
Then the part that costs people real money: the midnight call where a stuck float turns into a control board quote, or an 8,000 dollar new furnace. I give you the one sentence to say before anyone writes up a furnace.

Tell me down in the comments what state you are in and how old your furnace is, because the age changes what is fair and what is a stretch, and I read them.
I'm Ray Dutton. Keep your cool, and I'll see you in the next one.
