In today's video, I react to Tectone's "Leaflit is in serious Trouble" discussing the latest wave of backlash against me over my opinions on trans issues.
And apparently, we're at the point where disagreeing with certain activists means you're a person who supposedly doesn't want them to exist.
One statement in particular caught my attention. VTuber NyaraVT argued that "You can't find compromise with people that don't want you to exist."
But here's the problem with that argument:
Disagreeing with someone's beliefs is not the same thing as wanting that person to stop existing.
You can disagree about gender identity, sports eligibility, social policy, language, and what should be taught to children without wanting anybody dead or wishing them harm. Treating every disagreement as an existential threat makes genuine discussion almost impossible.
If the only acceptable outcome is total agreement, then what exactly are we supposed to compromise on?
That's what makes this entire situation so frustrating. Instead of addressing the actual arguments, some online activists immediately frame their opponents as hateful people who must be silenced, excluded, or driven off the internet.
And when the response becomes personal attacks, harassment, and attempts to damage someone's reputation, it becomes even harder to take the supposed commitment to understanding and tolerance seriously.
You don't get to demand respect for your own opinions while treating everyone else's as an attack on your existence.
I also discuss the double standards surrounding harassment and political rhetoric. When someone on the right receives a wave of abuse, it's often dismissed as something they should simply endure. But when the political roles are reversed, suddenly every disagreement becomes evidence of a dangerous, hateful campaign.
The same standards should apply to everyone.
And then there's the controversy involving VTuber MeltdownLou.
According to the events discussed in this video, MeltdownLou circulated a fabricated tweet attributed to me, portraying me as using slurs against gay and trans people. After the post was challenged, the tweet was deleted and the account was placed in protected mode.
If someone deliberately fabricates a statement and attributes it to another creator, that's not criticism. That's deception.
You can criticize my actual opinions.
You can disagree with what I say.
You can make arguments against my positions.
But inventing statements I never made to make me look worse is an entirely different matter. People should be able to judge creators based on what they actually say, not fabricated screenshots designed to provoke outrage.
And that's the broader problem with this kind of internet drama. Once a narrative takes hold, people become so invested in seeing their political opponents as villains that they stop checking whether the accusations are even true.
In this video, I react to Tectone's coverage, discuss NyaraVT's comments about compromise, address the controversy involving MeltdownLou, and talk about why disagreement should never be an excuse for harassment or dishonesty.
Because you don't have to like me.
You don't have to agree with my politics.
You don't even have to watch my content.
But you should at least be honest about what I actually said.
