Description

T. Rex may have been the apex predator of its world — but even it wasn’t safe from another T. Rex. Fossils from the Hell Creek Formation preserve direct evidence of Tyrannosaurus rex feeding on its own kind. Other skeletons show healed skull punctures, facial bite marks, and severe injuries caused by rival tyrannosaurs that survived long enough for the bone to heal. In this documentary, we explore the evidence for T. rex cannibalism, face-biting between rival tyrannosaurs, the injuries found on famous specimens like Stan and Jane, and new 2026 fossil evidence showing a smaller tyrannosaur scavenging the remains of a much larger relative. The strongest predator in the ecosystem still had something to fear. Itself. Research discussed includes work by Nicholas Longrich and colleagues on T. rex cannibalism, Brown, Currie & Therrien on tyrannosaur facial bite marks, and Nielsen and colleagues on new tyrannosaur feeding evidence. #TRex #Dinosaurs #Paleontology #PrehistoricPredators #Documentary
