Nothing About This Giant Flying Predator Made Sense… Here’s Why

Nothing about Hatzegopteryx seemed normal. This giant pterosaur had a wingspan of roughly 10 meters, an unusually robust skull, a powerful neck, and may have been one of the dominant predators of prehistoric Hațeg Island. But the strangest part is how it may have hunted. Instead of relying only on flight, Hatzegopteryx and other giant azhdarchid pterosaurs may have searched for prey while walking on the ground — potentially feeding on small dinosaurs and other animals living across the island. In this documentary, we explore Hatzegopteryx, Hațeg Island, dwarf dinosaurs like Magyarosaurus, island evolution, giant pterosaurs, and the evidence behind one of the strangest predators of the dinosaur age. Sources discussed include research by Darren Naish, Mark Witton, and studies on Hațeg Island dinosaurs and azhdarchid pterosaurs. #hatzegopteryx #pterosaur #dinosaurs #paleontology #documentary
