Description

Take a backcountry 4x4 adventure across Starr Mountain in East Tennessee as we put our 2023 Ford Bronco Sasquatch back on the trail and explore Forest Service Road 220 from Highway 39 all the way to Highway 315. This time we're taking our Cactus Gray four-door Ford Bronco deep into the Tennessee mountains for a beautiful day of off-road exploring, changing weather, incredible scenery, dispersed camping locations, mountain overlooks — and some surprisingly serious trail erosion. Forest Service Road 220 begins as the kind of scenic mountain road we love exploring, but conditions quickly get more interesting. Along the route we encounter heavily eroded sections and ruts that we estimate are approximately 16 to 20 inches deep. Our Bronco's Sasquatch suspension and aggressive Ironman All Country MTX tires get a chance to do exactly what we equipped them to do as we work our way through the rougher sections of Starr Mountain. But this adventure isn't just about the obstacles. We climb toward the crest of Starr Mountain, stop to take in the views, explore potential dispersed camping sites, experience changing mountain weather, and discover some beautiful hidden areas along this remote Tennessee Forest Service road. There's something special about taking a Ford Bronco down a mountain road without knowing exactly what you're going to find around the next bend. One minute you're cruising through peaceful forest, and the next you're looking at a massive washed-out rut and figuring out the best line through it. That's exactly what Dasher Adventure is all about. If you enjoy Ford Bronco off-roading, Tennessee backroads, Forest Service roads, 4x4 adventures, overlanding, dispersed camping, scenic mountain drives and exploring the backcountry, come along with us for the entire trip across Starr Mountain. 🚙 Vehicle: 2023 Ford Bronco 4-Door Sasquatch 🎨 Color: Cactus Gray with Black Hardtop 🛞 Tires: Ironman All Country MTX ⛰️ Location: Starr Mountain, Tennessee 🌲 Road: Forest Service Road 220 🛣️ Route: Highway 39 to Highway 315 🏕️ Adventure: Backcountry Exploring & Dispersed Camping ⚠️ Trail Conditions: Deep erosion and ruts estimated at 16–20 inches during our visit 📸 Highlights: Mountain scenery, Starr Mountain crest, overlooks, changing weather and remote Tennessee backroads Trail conditions on Forest Service roads can change dramatically because of rain, erosion, maintenance and seasonal conditions.
