Description

A Deep-Sea Camera Filmed a Colossal Squid Fighting Something Bigger — In the Dark Below It Off the South Sandwich Islands, in water no light had touched in a very long time, a deep-sea camera caught the sighting of a lifetime: a full-grown colossal squid, the largest invertebrate that has ever lived. But it wasn't hunting. It was running. And for two seconds at the bottom edge of the frame, something pale crossed through the dark below it — something bigger — before the segment was flagged as an artifact and quietly left out of the record.
