Description
There is a box of dishwasher tablets under your sink and you have used them for exactly one thing your whole life. Tonight, drop one in your toilet bowl and go to bed.
Turn the box over and you will find what is actually doing the work: sodium carbonate, which is plain washing soda, and sodium percarbonate, which is washing soda with oxygen locked into it. That is oxygen bleach. A toilet bowl is the one place in the house that is already full of water, which is exactly what it needs to work — so it cleans while you sleep and you do thirty seconds with the brush in the morning.
In this video: the fingernail test that tells you in five seconds whether this will work on your bowl at all, the stop-valve trick that drops the water level so the tablet sits right on the stain, and six uses — the bowl, the toilet brush and the holder nobody ever cleans, tea-stained mugs and thermos flasks, the glass shower door, the bins, and the concrete step and plastic chairs outside.
Then the three things nobody else in this lane will tell you: never in the tank and exactly why it costs you a plumber, why it will not touch a hard limescale ring no matter how long you leave it, and what a tablet really costs you against the same chemistry bought plain.
