Description
On Mongolia’s vast Steppe, Ogui and her family move several times a year in search of fresh pasture, carrying their yurt and possessions between seasonal camps.
For Ogui, nomadism is not simply a tradition but a necessity: staying in one place would exhaust the land that sustains their animals. Yet this ancient rhythm is becoming harder to maintain. Young people increasingly leave for the cities, children spend most of the year away at school, and growing herds are putting additional pressure on limited grazing land.
As fewer families remain on the Steppe, Ogui wonders whether the next generation will still choose the life that shaped her family.
