Draugr Konungr (The Draugr King) | Old Norse Viking Music

“Draugr Konungr” means “The Draugr King,” a song about a dead ruler who does not rest beneath the burial mound. In Old Norse belief, the draugr was no peaceful spirit, but a corpse that rose again, cold, hateful, and still bound to vengeance. The repeated cry for “more” gives the song its hunger, like a king who still demands blood, memory, and revenge from beyond the grave. English translation: Never runs out, I want more. More, more, give me more. Never runs out, I want more. More, more, give me more. In the mound he rests. Dead, dead, yet not dead. Mmmmm... mmmmm... The flesh rots. The hatred lives. Up, up, from the earth. Eyes glow. The hand is blue. Sword, sword, sings of names. Never runs out, I want more. More, more, give me more. Mmmmm... mmmmm... Mmmmm... mmmmm... He walks, walks through the night. Foot, foot, falls like thunder. Those who betrayed shall feel it. Dead, dead, he never forgets. Mmmmm... mmmmm... If I had a heart, I would love. If I had a voice, I would sing. But cold is my breast now. Still, still, is my blood. Never runs out, I want more. More, more, give me more. Mmmmm... mmmmm... Mmmmm... mmmmm... One thing remains: revenge, revenge. Revenge from the cold mound. Mmmmm... mmmmm... Mmmmm... mmmmm...
