Kvasis Blóð (Kvasir’s Blood) | Old Norse Viking Music

Kvasis Blóð tells the ancient Norse tale of Kvasir, the wisest of beings, whose blood became the legendary Mead of Poetry. Hidden away by Suttungr, the sacred mead carried the power of poetry, wisdom and inspiration. Odin descended into darkness, passed through stone in serpent form, won Gunnlöð’s trust and drank all three vessels, Óðrœrir, Són and Boðn. With the mead inside him, Odin escaped as an eagle and carried the gift of poetry back to the gods. From Kvasir’s blood came words, songs and the fire of the skald. Kvasis Blóð is a song about the origin of poetry itself, about sacrifice, wisdom, deception and the divine spark carried through words.
