In 1969, Fred Hampton was only 21 years old — but he was building something Chicago's political establishment and the FBI were watching closely. He helped organize the Rainbow Coalition, bringing together the Black Panthers, the Young Lords, and the Young Patriots across racial and cultural lines. He helped run free breakfast programs, medical services, and other community survival programs. And he spoke openly about revolution, poverty, police power, and the possibility of ordinary people organizing across the divisions that kept them apart. Then the FBI got involved. This video examines the records, speeches, organizing, COINTELPRO documents, and events surrounding Hampton's death — including the FBI's documented concern over the Black Panther Party's Free Breakfast for Children Program, the role of informant William O'Neal, and the December 4, 1969 raid that killed Hampton and Mark Clark. Rather than reducing Fred Hampton to either a hero or a villain, this film follows the historical record and examines what he was actually building, why it mattered, and what happened when the government moved against it. Some of the evidence is difficult to ignore. #fredhampton #blackhistory #americanhistory #BlackHistoryMonth #history
