Why This Song Makes You Miss Who You Used to Be

Lord Huron's The Night We Met is heard by millions as a tender promise to return to the person you love, yet it was written from a much lonelier place where you wish you could return to the night you met and leave before love could cost you anything. This video essay follows that quiet contradiction from the small rooms where the song began into 13 Reasons Why where it found a second life, and into weddings and late night covers where take me back is sung as devotion by people who have every reason to mean it that way. #thenightwemet #lordhuron #13reasonswhy #videoessay
