Description

This car just smashed through the end of a guardrail, and that's exactly what it's supposed to do. Hit the end straight on, and the steel head flattens the rail into a ribbon. But hit it at an angle, and the head can't slide down the rail. So the first wooden posts have holes drilled right through them: they snap, the rail swings open like a gate, and the car rolls out into the grass behind it. That's why the ground behind a guardrail end is kept flat and clear. This 3D animation is a simplified simulation for illustration, not a crash test. #Shorts #RoadSafety #Engineering
