This Runway Crumbles on Purpose

This Runway Crumbles on Purpose This jet just ran out of runway, with a highway right below it. Some airports have no room past the runway for a plane that can't stop, so the end of the runway is a bed of concrete blocks full of tiny air bubbles. The tires crush through the blocks and sink in, and the drag plows the plane to a stop just short of the edge. Then crews replace the crushed blocks. This 3D animation shows an illustrated scenario, not a real incident. #Shorts #Aviation #Engineering
