This Machine Listens to Every Egg

This machine just tapped every egg and listened for a crack. A cracked egg can let germs in, and some cracks are thinner than a hair. In a grading machine, a light shines up through each egg so a camera can spot the big cracks, but hairline cracks can slip past. So tiny steel-ball hammers tap each egg about four times as it spins on the rollers. A whole shell rings; a cracked one gives a dull knock. When the microphone hears it, the machine flags that egg, and it's dropped into a separate lane for cracked eggs. This 3D animation is a simplified illustration. The glowing rings show the sound of each tap, which you can't really see. #Shorts #Eggs #HowItsMade
