They Trusted Her Detective Husband Until Investigators Found His Secret | True Crime Documentary

A Westfield, Massachusetts police detective calls 911 and says his wife shot herself with his service pistol. It sounds like a suicide, until a medical examiner can't settle the manner of death, a firearms examiner measures a distance that doesn't fit, and a police computer holds searches made in the weeks before. In this true crime documentary on the Amy Fanion case, we follow Brian Fanion's path from trusted veteran detective to a first-degree murder conviction and a sentence of life without parole. We cover the missing gunshot residue marks, the thousands of messages with another woman, the contested hair theory, and the courtroom testimony that split Amy's family. Watch to the end, then tell us in the comments whether the hair theory raised reasonable doubt or the jury got it right. Subscribe to Case Bureau for a new true crime case every week. Disclaimer: This video is a documentary retelling based on public records and news reporting. Brian Fanion was convicted of first-degree murder by a jury in March 2023, and an appeal has been reported, so the case may still be in active legal proceedings and details could change. Prosecution claims are presented as allegations or theories, and defense arguments as arguments. Anyone charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
