🔗 Save Thousands on Repairs, Replacements and Power Bills — My Complete Home-Saving Method: https://nakamurasecrets.com Your washing machine can stop dead in the middle of a load, flash a code at you, and have nothing wrong with it at all. A code on a washer isn't a diagnosis. It's a stopwatch that ran out. The machine gives every step of the cycle a set amount of time, and if the step doesn't finish, it stops and names the step, not the cause. LG says it in writing: their fill code appears "if the water fails to fill the tub to an adequate level in a specified period," and their balance code appears when the "drum doesn't reach 20 RPM within 3 minutes." A drain code doesn't mean your pump is dead. It means the water didn't leave in time. I'm Richard Nakamura. I fixed appliances for thirty years, and more of my washer calls ended at a little door on the front of the machine than at any part on my truck. Everything in this video comes from LG, Samsung and Whirlpool's own support libraries. What's inside: • The drain code (LG OE, Samsung 5C/nd, Whirlpool F9 E1) and the drain pump filter behind the little door on the front: LG's own step-by-step for cleaning it with a towel and a baking pan • The drain hose that siphons, and the drain holes in the door seal • The fill code (LG IE, Samsung 4C, Whirlpool F8 E1): faucets, kinked or frozen hoses, and the inlet screens full of rust and sand • Samsung's code for crossed hot and cold hoses, and the Whirlpool long fill that's really a drain hose problem • The suds code — Samsung's own words: "This code does not indicate that service is needed" — and why it adds about two hours to a cycle (LG) • The codes that aren't faults at all: child lock, a stuck button, laundry caught in the door, an extension cord, and "dn," which means your washer is downloading an update • The balance code and why a small load or a bath mat on its own triggers it • Samsung's hidden calibration mode (Cb), and the general resets both brands give you • What it costs not to know this: $119.95 for the diagnostic visit alone (Yale Appliance service data) • The habit that sets off three different codes, practiced by the most careful person in the house • The codes that really do mean a part — and the two situations where you shut the water off first Always look your code up on your own manufacturer's support site with your model number. The same letters mean different things on different brands. And never bypass a door lock to make a washer run. 🔗 Save Thousands on Repairs, Replacements and Power Bills — My Complete Home-Saving Method: https://nakamurasecrets.com SOURCES • LG, washer error code list — https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-washer-error-code-list--20150140270078 • LG, front load washer OE error and drain pump filter cleaning — https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-washer-what-is-a-front-load-washing-machine-oe-error-code--1337714738535 • LG, troubleshooting an IE error code — https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-washer-troubleshooting-an-ie-error-code--1400510401752 • Samsung, washing machine information and error codes — https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshoot/TSG10000997/ • Whirlpool, F9 E1 front load washer — https://producthelp.whirlpool.com/Laundry/Washers/Front_Load_Washers/Error_Codes/%22F%22_Error_Codes/F9_E1_-_Front_Load_Washer • Whirlpool, F8 E1 front load washer — https://producthelp.whirlpool.com/Laundry/Washers/Front_Load_Washers/Cycle_Concerns/Not_Filling_or_Takes_too_long_to_fill/Received_an_Error_Code_F8E1/Error_Code_F8E1_-_Front_Load_Washer • Yale Appliance, what should you pay for an appliance service call — https://blog.yaleappliance.com/what-should-you-pay-for-an-appliance-service-call #washingmachine #applianceerror #laundryroom #appliancerepair #homeownertips #diyrepair
