Description

📕 Get the full cookbook - The Lunch Lady's $3,600-a-Year Grocery Cut (175 recipes & tricks, scaled for 1, 2 or a family): http://www.dorislunchlady.com/ I once ran a refrigerator in my garage for six years to keep three cans of pop cold. I bought the cheap foil. I drove across the county for cheap chicken. I did every habit in this video, most of them proudly. A school kitchen teaches you that the sticker price is not what a thing costs. It is what you paid, plus what it took to get it, plus what you threw away. For thirty-five years I ran a kitchen on a dollar and five cents a tray, and here are eleven frugal-looking habits that fail that test. On the list: paper plates to save on dishes, buying more to earn gas points, driving across town for the sale, the cheap one you end up buying twice, the big bag because it is cheaper by the pound, the boxes that ship themselves every month, the second refrigerator in the garage, keeping every container that comes into the house, the markdown meat you were never going to cook tonight, saving it for good, and at number one, the habit most of us were taught at the kitchen table. For every one: why it looks smart, what it really costs, and what I do instead. I am Mrs. Doris. A school kitchen in Scioto County, Ohio, on a dollar and five cents a tray. Numbers in this video are rough, round examples. Gas, electricity and grocery prices change by state and by season, so do the arithmetic with your own bills. On markdown meat, the USDA says to cook or freeze raw ground meat within a day or two of bringing it home, and chops within a few days, whatever the sticker says. This video is about everyday household money, not financial advice. Which one of these eleven have you been doing for years, thinking it was the careful thing? Tell me below. #frugalliving #moneyhabits #savemoney
