My hair is glorious in it. And above it sit two eyebrows the colour of strong coffee, the same dark brown I had drawn on every morning since I was thirty-two. A friend looked at it and said, very kindly, that I looked like a magistrate. I am not a makeup artist. Everything technical here came from Colette, who did the makeup for brides two doors down from my boutique, and who sat me down after she saw that photograph. Here is the whole video in two sentences. When your hair goes silver your brows go pale and thin at the same time, and a face without a frame looks tired. But the answer is never to draw them back in the colour they used to be, because on silver hair a dark brow becomes the darkest thing on your face, and hard contrast near the face is ageing. Softer, and slightly higher. That is the fix. The 7 steps: • Look at what you actually have, plus the three pencil landmarks for where a brow should start, arch and end • Never pull out the long ones, because those roots are filling your brow.
